Jordan Mixed Open
After a wonderful week in El Rompido Spain for a Tarleton Travel Event I am in Aqaba Jordan for the first time! This week will be a historical week on the LET as we are playing in an event with the Staysure Tour (senior) and the Challenge Tour (mens european secondary tour sort of like the web.com in the states) Not only are we playing at the same venue together but we are playing AGAINST each other for one purse.
This may sound crazy but the tournament staff have set the course up to their best ability in the hopes it is fair to each tour. I played my first practice round yesterday and enjoyed the course very much. It is a combination of Saadiyat Beach in Abu Dhabi and ironically Mission Hills (ANA Venue this week) The mountains in Jordan are stunning and we can see Israel from the course as well! It is amazing. Wind will certainly be a factor as the forecast is for up to 30 mph winds on Thursday!
It is great to be at an event with the men to freshen things up on tour. Tomorrow will be the first time in my 15 years playing professional golf that I will compete against a man. It is no secret that all three of the tours here are struggling. Both the LET and Challenge Tour have lost events that have hurt the schedule but the hope is that we can help each other. It feels amazing to be a part of something bigger than just a ladies professional golf event this week, it is a sign of change! I hope all of you enjoy the week and get behind it!
Also, some of you who follow me on social media will know that I have started a PodCast with my friend Emma Dodds about women’s golf in Europe. I enjoyed making the first one so much! Please download and rate it when you get a chance and send feedback! It is called On the Dance Floor and it is available on iTunes, Spotify and anywhere you listen to your podcasts! ENJOY!
